New Anambra CP reads riot act to criminals

…Parades 20 suspected cultists
From Geoffrey Anyanwu, Awka
Barely 48 hours of assumption of office, the new Anambra State Police Commissioner, Mr. Sam Okaula has warned criminals in the state to leave immediately or meet their Waterloo.
Okaula who read the riot act while briefing newsmen on the feat achieved by his command within 24 hours of his assumption as the new Police boss in the state, said operatives of the command rounded up 20 cultists in Ogbaru Local Government Area where they were initiating new members. The new CP warned that the state would be too hot for criminals as he has zero tolerance for crime and criminalities.
“I can assure you that I met a very serious crime fighting materials on ground left by my predecessor. I am a crime fighter and I have just come to do just that here. It will interest you to know that when I took over yesterday (Monday) I got information that some cultists were somewhere doing their initiation, I then directed my operatives to descend on them. In the process, 20 of them were arrested. Some of them are from neighbouring states, they’ve all been rounded up with various items. I want to sound this note of warning that Anambra State is not going to be conducive for any criminal. It is better for the criminals to relocate now before the meet their waterloo, I mean my words and I am telling you what I am going to do…”
I’ve made my stand known to the DPOs and Area Commanders and heads of departments, we are going to collectively ensure that the peace that pervades in this state, the enabling environment that have been created by the Governor and my predecessor, that nobody whatsoever tapers with it. We are going to build on it and we are going to continue to fight crime and criminality
“I am appealing to good people of Anambra state that there is a new sheriff in town and this sheriff does not condone crime and criminalities. They should come forward and give me information; I will make my numbers available.”
The cultists whom he said were mostly students of a federal institution in the state and some unemployed youths were arrested while trying to initiate some new members into the group at Ochuche, Umudu village in Ogbaru local government of the state.
He also said that one Mr. Uche Ugwu, aged 35 was arrested with a Beretta pistol while trying to rob a man of a large sum of money along the Enugu-Onitsha expressway within the same 24 hours.
Okaula urged the people of the state to feel free to approach his office with useful information on anything that might likely cause a breech of peace, assuring his readiness to work on such information.
Items recovered from the suspects included; pistols, live cartridges, concoctions for initiation, gongs, drums and other musical instruments meant to be used for the initiation.
