Boko Haram attacking village near Chibok

Armed gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram are currently attacking Kuburvwa Village‎ which is just 10 km from Chibok Town. According to Premium Times, an official of the Borno state vigilante Group, Abbas Gava, who confirmed the attack, said suspected sect members stormed the village at about 6.30 p.m, shooting sporadically into the air.
“As I am speaking to you now the gunmen are setting every house on fire after chasing the villagers away. From the information we have received from our operatives in Chibok and Kautikari, the number of casualty cannot be ascertained for now because the Boko Haram insurgents are still in the village”he said

I can’t predict when recession’ll end –Finance minister

Ifeanyi Onuba, Abuja
The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has said that she cannot predict when the nation will get out of the current economic recession.
She, however, said that some of the efforts of the government to reflate the economy had started yielding results.
The minister, who spoke in an interview in Abuja, stated, “I don’t want to predict when we will get out of recession. Let me tell you that we will get into growth and that’s how you get out of recession, because of the stimulus that we are providing.
“And it may take longer than we would like, but we will definitely get out of it. We are already seeing some positive signs in agriculture and solid minerals;and with what we are trying to do with other sectors, I am very sure we will get out of it soon.”
The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, had last week stated that the country would start getting out of recession by the fourth quarter of the year.
He had said, “We are already in the valley, the only direction is to go up the hill and the government is doing everything possible to ensure that we move up the hill. I am optimistic that based on the actions being taken by the monetary and fiscal authorities, the fourth quarter results will show evidence that we have started to move out of recession.
“The worst is over. The Nigerian economy is on the path of recovery and growth. So, please if you are a bystander or sideliner, you are losing; join the train now before it leaves the station.”
To facilitate the recovery of the economy from recession, Adeosun said about N770bn had been channelled into the economy for various capital projects this year, adding that the monitoring team in the Ministry of Budget and Planning was putting contractors on their toes to ensure that they delivered the projects.
Investors interested in Nigeria
The minister explained that despite the recession, lots of foreign investors were still interested in coming to invest in Nigeria.
As a demonstration of their interest in the country, she said the $1bn Eurobond being floated by the country had received a lot of commitments from investors, adding that the funds would start coming in before the end of the year.
Adeosun added that the report of the committee set up last month to review the national tax policy would be ready this week
No final decision on asset sales
She also said that the Federal Government had yet to take a final decision on which of the country’s national assets it would dispose of to finance the 2016 budget.
The position of the minister is against the widely held belief that the government has concluded plans to dispose of some important national assets such as the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the refineries.
The planned sale of the assets is being opposed by the organised labour, civil society organisations, industry stakeholders, professional bodies and financial analysts.
But Adeosun said while the government was mindful of the feelings of Nigerians, it was currently faced with serious financial challenge, which had made it imperative to raise funds from other sources.
She said the government recognised the fact that funding could be raised through borrowing, but lamented that this was not the best option now owing to the huge infrastructural deficit in the country.
The minister added that the type of financial resources needed to fund critical projects that would unlock the economic potential of the country could not be raised from borrowing, hence the need to dispose of what she described as underutilised national assets.
She said, “I think there are a number of assets that are being considered and I don’t think we have said this one or that one. There are some unused assets that are just lying idle, which people have come and suggested that ‘these things you are not using, can we lease them from you for money?’
“Hence, when they lease them from us, the taxes are still going to come to us. So, there are some things the government is sitting on, we don’t have money to do it, it makes sense for me to unlock those things. So,they bring money into the economy at these difficult times so that we can move forward.
“We have not got to the stage of saying it’s this asset, or that. But it’s more of the conversation around should we just keep on borrowing or shall we know that things are a lot more difficult than we envisaged and turn on to an alternative strategy, which is looking at some of the underutilised assets and releasing them.”
She added, “We think that the infrastructure challenges that we face are so serious and the kind of money that we need, we can’t borrow. When you have an accumulated deficit, you need to look for the money that will sustain what you are doing for the next three to four years.
“That is what we are doing, having more of a strategic approach so that over time, we will borrow less, and which of course is good.”
When asked what type of sale arrangement the government was considering for the national assets, the minister said this depended on the asset classes.
She said, “It depends on which one. There are some assets which you can lease and others you may need to divest from. The investor will also have to look at the risks and the pricing. Some assets just make sense to just leave them and there are some, which you may just sell but still hold on to the majority stake.
“So, it makes sense and you can sell to the Nigerian people and list on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. So, there are different kinds of sales.”
Lending rate reduction
When asked if she was disappointed that the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria did not reduce the benchmark lending rate to make domestic borrowing attractive as suggested by her,the minister said the government would explore other cheaper sources of funds, particularly from international institutions.
She said, “We are looking at a range of options and one of the biggest issues for us was the cost of borrowing. Of course, the government is the biggest borrower. So, what we have said from the beginning was that we will look for cheaper funds to bring down our cost of borrowing.
“Currently, it is cheaper to borrow internationally than to borrow locally. So, we are working with the Debt Management Office to try and refinance some of the existing local debts into external to get lower interest rates and to structure them over the medium term.
“That will reduce our cost of debt servicing and increase the amount of money available for capital projects, which is really our focus.”
N500bn new housing fund
In a bid to stimulate activities and return the economy to the path of growth, Adeosun said a mass housing scheme that would make Nigerians become homeowners under a mortgage arrangement would commence in the next three to four weeks.
She said under the initiative known as the ‘Family Home Fund’, the sum of N500bn had been earmarked to create mortgages for affordable houses for Nigerians, starting with the construction of 100,000 houses annually from next year.
According to her, the housing fund is expected to increase from N500bn to N1tn to make it possible for the government, through the private sector, to deliver about 400,000 houses annually through mortgages.
The mortgage, according to her, will be created at a single digit interest rate of 9.99 per cent payable in 20 years, with homeowners making an initial deposit of 10 per cent.
She said the low and middle-income earners would benefit more from the scheme as about 70 per cent of the houses would be given out for between N2.5m and N4.5m depending on the type.
Adeosun said, “We have done a lot of work around how we can bring down the cost. The tag is N2.5m and it is a house you can move into. So, we are bringing down the cost.
“These are affordable houses for Nigerians;the scheme is going to be linked with the BVN. One house per person; so, you cannot buy the house and rent it to somebody else.”

President Buhari Writes To Nollywood Filmmakers, Read What He Said

President Muhammadu Buhari has landed on top ‘Nollywood’ matter when he advised the Nigerian filmmakers and the world’s famous movie industry to always project the country in a positive light.
In his letter to the movie industry, Buhari acknowledged the success and impact the Nollywood have made on the national Gross Domestic Product and how much it has empowered a new generation of creative entrepreneurs in Nigeria, since its beginning. Hence he advised them not to promote violence and sex scenes in their movies, which he quoted, “does not represent the Nigerian/African culture and its diversity.

Below is President Buhari’s full message to Nigeria’s Nollywood movie industry written in a brochure titled: Nigerian Film Industry at a Glance.”
“The Nigerian film industry that is now called Nollywood, in the fashion of the American, Hollywood and Indian, Bollywood started as the effort of a group of enterprising young men and women who traded on their talents and sheer determination without anyone paying attention.
“It has now metamorphosed into a big industry employing thousands of people, contributing to the national Gross Domestic Product and empowering a new generation of creative entrepreneurs.”“Our government will continue to support the creative sectors of its economy so as to encourage our teeming youths while we enjoin our filmmakers to continue to project the image of Nigeria and the continent of Africa in a positive way through their story lines. Filmmakers should not make films for art sake. Films should be functional and socially relevant.”
“Filmmakers, whether local or those who come here to use our facilities, must, however, be sensitive to our cultures and religions. They must not glamorise violence or sexual vulgarity in all their forms. They must not promote racism or ethnic superiority or demonise any religion or culture.
“I want to see more films that celebrate our diversity, films that celebrate the achievements of our people, films that promote social causes of the right to education, films that tell us the evil of domestic violence against men and women, films that inspire hope and faith in our country and humanity in general. I am confident that Nollywood would go from strength to strength.”

How MTN moved over $12bn out of Nigeria – Dino Melaye

The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was on Thursday shocked when the Senator representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye revealed that the frontline communication company in Nigeria, MTN Nigeria has been involved in gross money laundering.
Senator Melaye who made the disclosure under order 42 of the Senate rule was particularly pained, saying that at the crucial moment when the nation is facing economic challenges, all hands must be on deck to recover every loot in the country.
“We are in a precarious situation and now is the time to recover every stolen money in the country,” he said.
Speaking further, Senator Melaye revealed that, “between 2006 and 2016, the MTN Nigeria, in collaboration with 4 commercial banks and with the help of a serving Minister, has moved over $12bn out of this country”.
He also disclosed that if given the opportunity, he would move the substantive motion in the next legislative day, with concrete evidences.
Ruling on the point of order, the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki granted Dino Melaye the privilege of moving the substantive motion during the senate plenary of Tuesday 27th September.

Angelina Jolie files for divorce from Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt and is seeking custody of their six children, TMZ reported Tuesday, spelling the end for “Brangelina,” one of Hollywood’s highest-profile celebrity couples.
According to the entertainment news site, the 41-year-old Jolie filed legal documents on Monday citing irreconcilable differences with Pitt, 52, listing their date of separation as September 15.
Two of the world’s biggest stars, they formed a Hollywood power couple second to none, so famous they were known simply by their combined first names.
The A-listers wed in France in August two years ago, but have been together since 2004 and have six children together, three of whom are adopted.

Jolie is seeking physical custody of the children, with visiting rights for Pitt, according to TMZ, which said she was not seeking spousal support.
Pitt came into the public eye 25 years ago with a much-talked-about shirtless debut as eye-candy in the hit movie “Thelma and Louise” — and went on to become a household name in Hollywood.
A three-time Oscar nominee for his acting, Pitt took home a golden statuette for best picture in 2014 as a producer of “12 Years A Slave.”
He has built a resume of varied film roles, starring alongside some of the industry’s other mega-watt stars: with Tom Cruise in “Interview with a Vampire,” Anthony Hopkins in “Legends of the Fall” and George Clooney in “Ocean’s Eleven.”
Jolie catapulted to stardom with her role in 1999’s “Girl, Interrupted,” taking home an Academy Award for best supporting actress for her fierce portrayal of a rebellious woman in a mental institution.
She has since played everything from a fairy tale villain (“Maleficent”) to a sexy video game heroine (“Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”) to the widow of assassinated American journalist Daniel Pearl (“A Mighty Heart”).
The red carpet darling is now better known for her humanitarian work than for her tabloid-ready actions, having served for several years as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
– Golden boy –
In 2012, she was promoted to special envoy and has visited refugees around the world, from Syria to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.
More recently, she has been a vocal advocate for victims of sexual violence in war zones, co-hosting a global summit on conflict rape in 2014 in London.
She also was made an honorary dame by Queen Elizabeth II.
She is one of the world’s most visible symbols in the battle against cancer, having undergone a double mastectomy and removal of her ovaries and fallopian tubes to prevent an aggressive form of the disease that killed her mother, grandmother and aunt.
The actress had been married twice before, to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.
Pitt, born to a middle-class family in Oklahoma, supported himself in early adulthood with a series of part-time jobs, including as a chauffeur, removal man and even dressing up in a chicken suit to advertise a fast-food chain.
But from 1987 the work started to trickle in, with bit parts in the television series “Dallas” and “21 Jump Street” and a few low-budget movies.
His position as a Hollywood golden boy was assured by his 2000 marriage to “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston, which made them one of the hottest couples in the world.
Pitt and Jolie fell in love on the set of action film “Mr & Mrs Smith,” although they didn’t get engaged until 2012.
In May 2006 Jolie gave birth to their first child, a girl named Shiloh.
Their joint fortune is estimated at over $300 million, and they are among the highest paid stars in Hollywood.
Jolie, the daughter of Oscar winner Jon Voight, made her directorial debut in 2011 with “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” an unflinching drama about rape as a weapon in wartime Bosnia.
Her fourth feature behind the camera, historical thriller “First They Killed My Father,” is being released on Netflix later in the year.

WOW!!! A Die Hard Fan Writes And Dedicates Song To 2Face – You Wont Believe How He Reacted

Innocent Ujah Idibia, the man we all know as 2face (2baba), is undoubtedly a star that has lots of devoted fans.
Indeed, it wouldn’t be too much of an over-statement if we say he is the most loved artiste in contemporary Nigerian hip-hop.
Innocent Ujah Idibia, the man we all know as 2face (2baba), is undoubtedly a star that has lots of devoted fans. Indeed, it wouldn’t be too much of an over-statement if we say he is the most loved artiste in contemporary Nigerian hip-hop.
2face, as an artiste, has gotten expensive gifts such as SUVs, houses, jewelries in the past, but a song dedicated to him by a fan, Miebaka Asabuja Ogar aka Mi2 is surely one he would appreciate for a long time.
The legendary singer took to his Instagram page to inform his other fans and followers about the song gift.
He wrote,
“I appreciate this song from the bottom of my heart. Wow, @mi2asabuja thank you so much for this tribute. You are super talented. Guys go check it out…”

Zero Chill!!! Watch Sean Tizzle Angrily Walked Out Of Interview After Presenter Asked About Skin Bleaching

An interviewer got a taste of hostility from singer, Sean Tizzle, after the latter showed him the middle finger for asking him to confirm if he bleached his skin.
In the chat, Tizzle was heard having a heated argument with his host concerning if he has the semblance of someone who applies skin bleaching substance on his body.
He said,
“From what you are looking right now, does it look like I am using something?… Does it look like there is something wrong with me?”
The singer subsequently rose from a couch where the interviewer also sat and took his leave, signing out with a F**k you gesture.
The skin bleaching subject relating to the singer has been making the rounds for a while.
Fans of the ‘Jalolo’ crooner have advised him to quit using beauty creams that will enhance his skin complexion with the position that it is dangerous to one’s health.
The biggest reaction to the singer’s skin bleaching drama was Patoranking’s 2014 song titled ‘Bora’.
Satirical Patoranking took shots at Sean Tizzle, asking him about why he changed his skin colour.

Unbelievable! Meet The 15-Year-Old Child Who Has Been Both A Boy And A Girl All His Life (Photo)

In what will come across as rather shocking development, a teenager has been found out to be both a boy and a girl.
Considered an outcast by family members in the village where his mother is married, Kennedy Kagoni, the father of an intersex child, himself born out of wedlock, is a distressed man. His son, who has both male and female s*x organs, is now 15.
Not only did he lose his wife to a pastor, but now a s*x minority lobby group allegedly wants him dead for trying to expose their organisation as a ‘money-minting lobby’.
Kagoni says he was approached by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual and Intersex (LGBTI) lobby group headed by transgender activist Audrey Mbugua with the promise to assist his son overcome the condition that comes with heavy stigma. That was in 2010, two years after reading about his plight in a local daily.
The 47-year-old father of two claims he later parted ways with Audrey because of the activist’s religious inclination, motives and actual sexual orientation.
Kagoni was concerned that the promised help for his son was shrouded in secrecy and that financial help received on behalf of his son was not being channelled towards improving his suffering.
Matters worsened when some LGBTI members allegedly tried forcing him into unnatural sexual acts and weird forms of worship against his wish.
“They were using my child’s condition to enrich themselves. Audrey was not happy when I reported the matter to the Attorney General and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP),” he says.
Fearing for his safety, the man has been residing at the Redeemed Gospel Church in Nairobi’s Huruma estate for the last three years. Michael Obonyo, a pastor at the church, said the man needs help.
Kagoni claims he sought sanctuary in the church after three men made attempts on his life while in his house in Soweto slums on August 8, 2013.
He believes those after his life want to silence him against his quest for justice and truth by exposing their wayward ways. He reported the threats to police in Kayole, Nairobi.
“I saw strangers outside the house and when I peeped through the window, I noticed that one of them was armed. I screamed and that made them flee,” Kagoni says.
The complaint at Soweto Police Station was recorded under OB 11/9/8/2013. The DPP has unsuccessfully tried to push for completion of investigations into the alleged threats. Kagoni claims Audrey is not happy that the DPP was trying to push police to investigate the claims on his life. He notified the DPP about his troubles in 2014.
The previous year, he had reported to the same office, alleging that his child was being abused by the lobby group led by Audrey who had called him in 2010 promising to help.
